Atlas Mountains

After three days in Marrakech, we were eager to escape the early Autumn heat. We headed to the High Atlas mountains, to the village of Imlil, at the foot of Toubkal (4165m), the highest mountain in North Africa.

We spent a day exploring the Walnut Groves around Imlil, and then ascended Toubkal itself.

A Google Earth placemark file recorded on the hike to the top of Toubkal is available on the Hy-Brasil Google Earth page.

After our trip to the Atlas Mountains, we headed down into the Sahara Desert.
