Þórsmörk - towards Landmannalaugar

The next morning was beautiful. The mist had lifted, and we could see all three glaciers surrounding the valley. After packing up, we decided to trek for a while to the north of the valley, along part of the glacially- and volcanically- carved route to Landmannalaugar.

We trekked to the Þrongá river valley, from where one could see the peaks further along the trek, in central Iceland.

After a packed lunch in the middle of the woods, we headed back to pick up our gear, and caught the 3:30pm bus from the Húsadalur campsite. Once back on the coastal ring road, we changed to a standard bus, and went all the way back to Reykjavik.
