After a couple of hours on a bus which doubles as the newspaper delivery service, we arrived at the Gullfoss waterfalls.
The countryside on the way was full of Icelandic ponies and sheep, and looked very like Connemara. Even the weather was doing a good impression of that in Galway. However, the waterfalls look nothing like those in Ireland, and are very dramatic.
Gullfoss ("the Golden Falls") is a two-tiered waterfall where the river Hvitá ("White River") drops into a canyon 70 metres deep and 2.5 kms long.
